Anglican Companion is built and published by Opirth Technologies, based in Kenya ("Opirth Technologies", "we", "us"). This policy explains what the Anglican Companion mobile app does - and does not - do with your information.
The short version
We collect only what the app needs to work for you, we tell you here what that is, and we never sell your personal data. Today, everything you personally create in the app - your bookmarks, your own compiled books, your text-size preference - is stored on your device.
Accounts and personal information
The current version of Anglican Companion does not ask for your name, email address, or other personal identifiers. Some features - such as keeping your books and settings in step across devices, or receiving notifications from your congregation - will need an account. Before any such feature is available, we'll update this policy to explain exactly what is collected, why, and how you can delete it.
What stays on your device
The app stores the following locally, in a database that lives only on your phone:
- Personal books you build (hymns and prayers you've chosen to collect together)
- Bookmarks you save
- Your reading text-size preference
- The prayer, hymn, and section content downloaded for offline reading
In the current version of the app, none of this is sent to us.
What the app downloads
To keep its library of prayer books and hymnals up to date, the app periodically downloads public content - books, sections, prayers, and hymns - from our content service. These requests do not carry your name, location, device identifier, or any other personal data; they simply ask "what's the current version of this content?" and fetch it if it has changed.
Third-party services
The current version of the app does not include analytics, crash-reporting, or advertising services. If we add any third-party service that handles your information, we'll name it in this policy and explain what it receives.
Children's privacy
We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us and we'll delete it.
Changes to this policy
As the app grows, this policy will change with it. When it does, we'll update the "Last updated" date above and post the revised policy at this same address. Where a change affects how your personal information is used, we'll also let you know in the app.
